The Consortium of Pacific Herbaria (CPH) has recently been developed to serve as a centralized gateway to botanical information from Pacific Island vascular plant specimens that are housed in herbaria throughout the region. The intial project plans to database information from more than 60,000 specimens, all records will be searchable through a single web interface. Originally developed around botanical collections from University of Hawaii Joseph F. Rock herbarium, the consortium also includes the University of Guam. Future plans to expand to include additional collections as more partnerships are developed. Currently, collections from three institutions are being catalogued and will be accessible online. The data included in this database are a snapshot of the diverse island vascular plant collections at partner institutions.
The participating institutions cooperate under the guidelines of a Memorandum of Understanding. Participation as a data provider to the Consortium database is open to all Pacific regional herbaria that meet these Minimum Requirements for data inclusion.
Currently, the Consortium is in the process of completing a directory
to regional herbaria. We will be updating information
for each herbaria and adding new information to the directory.
